THE MIDNIGHT FLORIST COLLECTIVE

The Midnight Florists is a collaboration between Andrew Martin Lee and a revolving ensemble of Artists, Researchers, and Producers.

Formed in 2016 by Andrew Martin Lee [He/Him], Stephanie Bundy [She/Her], and Emma McElhenny [She/Her], in the woods of the Dartington Estate. The Florists’ work is an eclectic compound of multiple forms spanning theatre, installation, live-art, autotero, and opera, as well as performance-research outputs including publication, conference presentations, and performance-based/performance-led research.

We explore the burning concerns of the collective, those things that keep us up at night. From social injustice and ecological collapse to queer intimacies and community making. We seek to explore the relationship between the audience/performer and audience/participant, facilitating space so that we can begin to heal or to continue to heal, from the experiences that violently transform us.

ANDREW MARTIN LEE (He/Him)

Artistic Director

Andrew Martin Lee is an interdisciplinary performance maker, producer, and academic, whose work explores the boundaries of human intimacy, & the depths of autobiography. All of his work blends modes of shared authorship, audience interaction & intimacy, as well as notions of authenticity (attempted or otherwise), in order to create works that close the gap between performance & real life.

His work draws heavily on the influences of Alan Moore, Satoshi Kon, Amanda Palmer, Ira Brand, Adrian Howls, & countless others who coalesce into his unique brand of connection. He also works as a freelance producer for Ergo Phizmiz PLC, & previously for b-side. He holds a master’s degree in Theatre & Theatre Collectives and is undertaking a PhD at The University of Chichester entitled On Art-Magic: Socio-Ecological Interventions within ‘The Culture of Steam.
